HPAP Tajikistan
Completed in 2020
The Tajikistan Health and Pollution Action Plan focuses on ways to reduce health risks from obsolete pesticides, as these persistent organic pollutants were identified as the main pollution issue in the country. It was a collaborative effort between government agencies, NGOs, and other public organisation that began in 2018 and was completed 2 years later. This work was supported by the European Union, USAID, The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Pure Earth, and GAHP.
Priority Issues
The main pollution problem prioritized by this plan is obsolete pesticides and provides a detailed assessment of the most dangerous POPs, discusses the need to clean contaminated legacy sites, and restore storage facilities to prevent future emissions to the environment and human exposures.
