GAHP’s specialized Annual Training for Public Health Executives

GAHP is proud to develop an annual module on Chemicals and Health for Public Health Executives within the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) at the Institute of Global Health of the University of Geneva.

The focus on Chemicals and Health is designed to navigate Pollution, Toxic Exposure, and Sustainable Solutions topics for the Executives attending the master's in public health and who will be future public health experts.

This course designed to address critical issues related to environmental health, focusing on the challenges and solutions associated with chemical pollutants and their impact on health, will be an additional component of the MAS, aligning with GAHP's mission and work on awareness and education.

The training on Chemicals and Health will focus on:

  • Strengthening the Informed Decision-Making Process
  • Introduction to Environment and Health Issues: Pollution and Toxic Exposure on Health and Biodiversity.
  • Introduction to the International Chemical Agenda: Decision-Making Tools to Protect Health and Biodiversity from Pollution. The Global Framework for Chemicals and Waste (GFCW) and issues of concern (LEAD).

By educating public health professionals on the critical intersection of health and the environment this annual module aims at training the next generation of leaders who will champion sustainable solutions and drive impactful change in global health policies.

The modules are approved by the MAS and led by GAHP and international experts, exploring the intricate links between chemical pollution and public health.

This program reinforces the importance of multisectoral approaches in tackling pollution issues worldwide and is possible thanks to the support from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety, and Consumer Protection of Germany.
