GAHP attended and actively contributed to the discussion and analysis of the different aspects of the documents presented by the SPP Secretariat during the Preparatory Regional Meeting organized by the UN Environment for the Latin American and Caribbean Region. The third session of the Ad Hoc Open-Ended Working Group on a Science-Policy Panel to contribute further to the sound management of chemicals and waste and to prevent pollution (OEWG-3) will officially begin on 17-21 June - 2024 in Geneva, Switzerland. It is expected to conclude the discussion process and accomplish the UNEA Resolution's mandate.
The SPP is thought to contribute further to the sound management of chemicals and waste to prevent pollution and protect human health and the environment, particularly in LMICs. As a non-legally binding framework, SPP has to strengthen the Science Policy interface to identify issues and gaps, promote assessment, provide information, raise awareness, and enhance capacity building.
