Lead Contamination: Health Interventions and Solutions in South America

This Webinar is scheduled for 29th October during the WHO International Lead Poisoning Prevention Week. The session will feature key insights and interventions to reduce lead pollution in South America, including:

• Maria Paola Lia, GAHP Executive Director, describes the GAHP model of work to combat pollution, lead in particular

• Judith  Torres, Ministry of Environment of Uruguay, addresses partnership within the MERCOSUR countries and their collaboration to tackle the problem of the informal management of ULABs in the region.

• Alberto Capra, Basel Convention Regional Centre for South America, provides an overview of the revision of ULAB's guidelines, which is crucial for the sound management of hazardous waste.

• Dr. Lilian Corra, GAHP Senior Advisor and expert on health and pollution, presents the lead burden of disease, shedding light on the health implications of lead exposure and the necessary interventions.

The event aims to foster collaboration by disseminating effective solutions to mitigate lead pollution and toxic exposure.
