22 FEB | Azerbaijan Electronic E-waste Workshop

Financed by GAHP through generous funding from SDC, and as a follow-up to the HPAP the Environmental Research Centre (ERC) supported the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Azerbaijan in facilitating the development of the strategic roadmap on electronic waste.

On February 21, ERC held a webinar on the "Roadmap for Electronic Waste Management in Azerbaijan". The workshop aimed to present the roadmap to stakeholders and provide opportunities to review the draft. The roadmap will assist national government and local executive powers, agencies, business representatives, homeowners, residents, and enterprises in reducing e-waste (particularly batteries) hazard levels and risks of exposure to e-waste pollution. Also, the roadmap envisages the development of many recommendations to address e-waste management at the national and community levels. In addition to studying the successful experience of foreign countries, the road map was developed based on solutions more suitable for Azerbaijan.

The workshop was attended by representatives from numerous institutions in the country, namely the ministries of Health, Environment, Energy, Science and Education and several other public and private sector stakeholders.
